Wandering Wednesday – The Ship In the Hotel

Here we go! I’ve finally pulled all my stuff out of my suitcase and loaded my pics up. I have to admit that we have very limited pictures, only because we, well, didn’t go anywhere outside the resort. No excursions, nothing. We literally sat on the beach. Every. Day.

Let me tell you, it was the best thing ever.

So first I wanted to share one of my favorite pics. We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro in Punta Cana, which is an all-inclusive and adults only resort. It was absolutely gorgeous, well kept, and so QUIET. It never felt crowded, there were always spots poolside or on the beach for shade, and it just really felt like a bit of paradise. Everyone who worked there was unbelievably nice, and also the chef went above and beyond to make sure that I could eat well no matter which restaurant I visited each night.

Oh, and there was a ship in the middle of it where the discotheque was.

  1. Hubby and I have never done a vacation where we just sit and relax…his idea is that we have to “go” and “see” and “do” as much as possible – to make the most of our time off. It used to bother me – your vacation sounds heavenly! But to his credit we have seen and experienced so many places and done some really cool things such as: backpack to Half Dome in Yosemite, camp in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, wine tastings in Solvang, hiking in the Garden of the Gods, driving ourselves through Ireland and staying in Bed ‘n Breakfasts and a castle, flying a hawk on the grounds of Ashford Castle in Ireland, adventures in Baja, Mexico, visiting a Buddhist Stupa in Sedona, AZ, driving Hwy 101 to San Fran and camping in Big Sur, getting married in Aspen Co., and of course there’s the Grand Canyon, Taos and Santa Fe NM…yeah, you get the idea. And I’m so glad we did all of this when we were younger because as we get older, now we are enjoying sitting on the beach and reading – for a couple of hours as least! Maybe someday we’ll be able to experience the “do nothing” vacation – but I’m not betting on it! :0)

    • It is great to be able to see so much while traveling! MH and I have a rule right now that we rotate our vacations – one year is rest and relaxation, and another is heavy culture/travel focus. You guys have seen some amazing stuff! Just send him more pics of beaches and maybe that will help. ;)

  2. That scene is incredibly picturesque! I’m envious. I would love to visit such places someday, though admittedly I’m not a big fan of beaches!

    • Well what was nice about this resort (and maybe others I imagine) was that there was also the pool side area, which was quite large, and had a swim up bar, so the beach is optional if you just want a nice backdrop? XD

  3. I am totally digging your Bones title on this
