Excuse Me While I Get All Nostalgic.

Today I was seeing pics of hedgehogs everywhere, and it got me thinking about some of my previous pets.

I used to have, at the same time, a rat, a hedgehog, and an iguana. I loved them all so much.

My rat, Ambellina, was the sweetest pet I’ve ever had. She would come when called, and would crawl up my body to sit on my shoulder and give me kisses. She passed away in late 2006 from a respiratory disease.

Then there was Napoleon, the hedgehog. He was the runt of the litter, loved paper towel tubes, and running in his wheel while pooping. As much as I loved both of these rodents, I don’t think I would ever have them as pets again, just because their lifespan can be so short and their deaths can be so tragic and sudden. :(

And last there was Alex, the iguana I got as a pet when I was 13 years old. He was with me for just over 10 years. I don’t have many pics because I either didn’t own a digital camera or didn’t keep them digitally until just before he died. He was like a big dog that would sit in my lap and let me scratch his sides, and was super protective of me when men were around.

This also makes me realize just how much pictures and video can mean. I don’t have nearly enough of these guys as I do of my cat and dog. I might have to spend some time looking through my physical albums to see if I have anything additional.

Well shoot, now I’m going to go hug my pup and kitten for a while.
