I sure hope not, because today I am going to show some pictures that we took as we walked around this gorgeous city!
We took advantage of the gorgeous weather when we were in Rome, and only took public transportation on three occasions. Most of the time we wandered the streets with map in hand, and it was a really cool experience. And we only got lost once [which was one of the times we ended up on public transportation].
My favorite part about walking around the city was the blend of ancient and modern architecture. Turning a corner, you can suddenly encounter a whole dig site.
Or a lone column.
Or a ruined church.
Or a really badass Gothic one.
We found the Piazza Navona that was full of vendors and fountains. It used to be where the city market was back in the 15th century.
We also of course went to the Trevi Fountain, and of course we both threw coins in it to make sure we can visit Rome again some day. It was a bustling place to be, but it was amazing to see.
There are also obelisks all over Rome that were brought from Egypt.
And one of my favorite pics from walking around Rome.
And my other favorite.
