“The snow doesn’t give a soft white damn whom it touches.” – e.e. cummings
Although I do love warm weather, since my partner is from Berlin, we will be spending every other holiday there for the rest of time. Which I totally don’t mind. Germany during the holidays is awesome.
When I went in 2010, it was the first time I had ever seen snow – I mean, I had seen it in the mountains of southern California, and seen it on the ground in other states, but I’d never really seen it fall. I’d also never been in below freezing temperatures. So, this trip was definitely a new experience to me.
Along with being in below freezing temperatures for the first time and in falling snow, I also got to walk across a frozen lake, which is pretty terrifying. Okay, maybe not really, but I was a little freaked out.
Once I determined that I was safe, it was easier to just relax and walk around, but my partner and his dad did keep telling me what to look out for to make sure there wasn’t any thin ice. That wasn’t necessarily settling. XD
But I learned that being freezing cold isn’t SO terrible. But I learned that I still would rather be in my warm SoCal weather most of the time.
I also learned the important lesson: Snow in the face hurts. A lot. I never even imagined it could hurt so bad. And I’m not talking when it’s thrown at you. I mean just put on your face. XD
